aeronav.net - Mailing Lists

Aeronav.net uses Mailman to support the Internet Mailing Lists. Mailman is a program which automates the management of Internet mailing lists. Mailman can be controlled through a web-based interface or by sending commands via email to handle all aspects of list maintenance. Once a list is set up, virtually all operations can be performed remotely by email or web-browser, requiring no intervention by the postmaster of the list site. More information about how Mailman works can be found in the User's Manual.

Anyone who joins a list can send an email to everyone else on the list by sending the email to: <listname>@aeronav.net. Emails sent to this address will automatically be forwarded to everyone on the list. This will only work if you join the list first. Emails that come from someone who is not on the list will 'bounce'. (Keep that in mind as it will apply if you try to send an email from an account other than the account subscribe with).

There are two ways to control Mailman: through email commands or through a web browser interface.

Email Interface:

Mailman is controlled via the email interface by sending emails to specific email addresses.

To join the mailing list, simply send an email to <listname>-join@aeronav.net where <listname> is replaced by the name of the specific list to be joined. Both the subject and the body of the email is ignored and the return address of the command email set is added to the list.
<listname>-leave@aeronav.net - by sending a message to this address, a member can request unsubscription from the list. As with the -join address, the Subject: header and body of the message is ignored. Note that <listname>-unsubscribe@aeronav.net is an alias for the -leave address.
<listname>-owner@aeronav.net - This address reaches the list owner and list moderators directly. This is the address you use if you need to contact the person or people in charge.
<listname>-request@aeronav.net - This address reaches a mail robot which processes email commands that can be used to set member subscription options, as well as process other commands. Member subscription options are much easier to set through the web interface. For more details on using the email interface, see the User's Manual.

Active Mailing Lists

The following lists are active:

nspcsg - ICAO Navigation Systems Panel CAT II/III GBAS Subgroup. This list allows attachments of up to 5 MBytes. The list is un-moderated. Only list members may mail to the list. Membership is limited to active experts of NSP supporting the CAT II/III Subgroup. The list owner may remove anyone at his or her discretion. List membership may be further restricted at the discretion of the list owner.

iccaiansp - ICCAIA Navigation Systems Panel support - ICCAIA members only. This list allows attachments of up to 5 MBytes. The list is un-moderated. Only list members may mail to the list. List membership is restricted to ICCAIA advisors. To apply for membership, apply in the usual manner as described above. Then, the list owner will be contacted to approve the subscription.

The following lists are inactive:

nspssg - ICAO Navigation Systems Panel Spectrum Subgroup. This list allows attachments of up to 5 MBytes. The list is un-moderated. Only list members may mail to the list. Membership is limited to active experts of NSP supporting the Spectrum Subgroup. The list owner may remove anyone at his or her discretion. List membership may be further restricted at the discretion of the list owner.

nspcntsg - ICAO Navigation Systems Panel Conventional Nav Aids and Testing Subgroup. This list allows attachments of up to 5 MBytes. The list is un-moderated. Only list members may mail to the list. Membership is limited to active experts of NSP supporting the Conventional Nav Aids and Testing Subgroup. The list owner may remove anyone at his or her discretion. List membership may be further restricted at the discretion of the list owner.
